“Some people like to travel with a companion. Other people
prefer to travel alone. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.”
Some people believe that traveling alone will be useful. For
example, solo travelers can make or change their decisions without considering other
people’s needs. They do not have to care about time and budget of their companions.
However, in my opinion, travelling with someone is more helpful since an unexpected
journey does not guarantee safety but often needs others’ hands and emotional
support.
First, traveling has potential accidents, which people may
need someone’s help. Let’s say travelers lose their wallets or bags. It can be
easier to borrow money from their companions than from a person who they have
never met before. Another example is that if they should change their flat tires
on a road trip, their companions will assist them. Thus, having a companion
enables a traveler to handle troubles efficiently.
Moreover, to travel with a companion helps travelers feel
safe. For instance, a female traveler stays at an accommodation alone or even a
man goes hiking to a dangerous canyon by himself. He or she might be afraid of
being alone, especially at night. If they had a friend, they would feel safer
than being alone. Therefore, travelling with someone will give a traveler
emotional support and allow them to avoid fear.
In conclusion, even though travelling alone may help people
feel freer, I strongly recommend being with a companion. After all, traveling
with a companion will be helpful emotionally and physically.
